Press mutation brings damages to Germany

Hi everyone!

We are getting close to Christmas now, I am sooo in the mood for turkey, chestnuts, snow, Christmas trees and gifts!!

But the holidays will actually bring bad news for the smaller player of German press. With the decreasing sales and the end of the previous business model, several newspapers and press agencies are in really bad situations there.

Here is an article from Les Echos that summarize all this:

Express yourselves! :)

Dear all,

As much as I enjoy posting messages, I would also love to hear from you!

So today I decided to post a little survey: I was wondering how many of you still prefered to read real books, or if you had become e-books lovers, or if you simply use both digital and paper versions of books! And why you prefer to read this way of course! :)

I am looking forward to reading your answers! Now is the time to express yourselves.

Moleskine launches the "Evernote Smart Notebook"

Hi everyone!

I saw an article yesterday about Moleskine and wanted to share it with you. I guess you all know Moleskine: these one-colour, small notebooks that are so simple and useful! Well, they just launched a great application in partnership with Evernote.

Basically, you can write or draw what you want on your Moleskine, take a picture of it with the Evernote mobile application, and it will appear as a numeric document on your phone. It is hard to say whether this inovation will reach a great success in the future, but at least I thought the idea was smart and fun!

Here is the link to the article, if you are interested:

Children's book fair in Paris

Hi everyone!

Today, the Parisian "Salon du livre et de la presse jeunesse" opens today in a very good context since these books are the ones that currently sell best. They benefit from intensive innovation, and very rich content and diversity.

If this industry still relies on old, charismatic heroes such as Bayard's "Tom-Tom & Nana" (1977) or "Petit Ours Brun" (1975), they also see the apparition of new, original heroes (for example, we can now see friendship represented by a crocodile and a bird). For teenagers, sales are brought high thanks to best-sellers like "Hunger Games" or "Twilight".

Here is a link to the Salon's website, where you will be able to find all the information you could need:

Pure players' threat

Good evening everyone!

Here is an interesting article concerning the fast development of e-books in France. As Amazon's new Kindle was launched in France on October 25th, the presence of America's leading pure players represents a threat for French publishing houses.

Should we protect our industry and keep a tradition of the "exception culturelle française" or let them invade the French market on a more business point of view? I will let you decide! :)

Next time I will try to find an article on this subject, but defending Amazon or Apple's point of view!

See you soon,

The Reading revolution

Good evening everyone!

As the very first article published on this blog, I wanted to share with you something linked to the new technologies currently modifying our reading habits.

Who hasn't heard about tablets yet? Though everybody claims that this trend is mainly developing in the United States, you see them appear and develop at an incredible speed within the Parisian subway. And with Christmas getting closer, it can't harm to consider a few options!
